Kari’s Elevated Goddess View of Conversations with Goddess M. “Your Life… Your Choice: Making Change Work For You” 02/05/17
Last time on Conversations with Goddess M we discussed how to create change in your life, and how to move in harmony with it when it shows up.
I know we’ve all complained, at some point, about the perceived lack of something in our lives, and grumbled about how we wish things would change. We wish for a new job, a mate, free time, support from others. And then when things do change, we start feeling overwhelmed and fearful. You get that new job and discover you don’t like your boss, or the work is too demanding, or the customers are rude. It’s common knowledge that transition and change can be challenging, but getting what we want can be challenging too. We fantasize about all the things we desire, and how perfect our lives would be with them, but the truth is, everything has consequences. It is the consequences, the difficult parts of our new reality, that help us grow, not the easy parts. For this reason, it is very important to have a spiritual daily practice that assists you with being in harmony with change, and not resistant to it. When resistance begins, growth stops. Take some time out of your day to meditate, read an inspiring book, or just reflect.
When you’re operating in a fear-based mentality, the consequences of your decisions seem even bigger and more threatening. The motto of a fear-based mentality is “if something can go wrong, it will.” Therefore, we turn any small challenge in our lives into a stepping stone to a downward spiral. Not liking your boss at your new job turns into, “what if they fire me? I don’t have anywhere else to go. I won’t be able to pay my bills.” A fear-based mentality is faith in lack and limitation, versus faith in love and elevation. We are conditioned to have a fear-based mentality, and receive conditioning from our environment–our parents, teachers, school, friends, television, etc. But for us to be able to move through challenges in life, we must shift our mindset from one of fear to one of love.
Shifting your mindset takes consistent practice, and it takes being fully present in every moment to correct yourself if you find that you are slipping into a fear-based mindset. Be aware of your current environment and what type of conditioning you are receiving–is it conditioning to empower you or conditioning to enslave you? This is why it’s typically suggested to remove negative people from your life–if you want to create change, and shift your mindset, you must create new conditioning by surrounding yourself with people, places, and things that are in alignment with your vision. Goddess M also shared a helpful exercise towards the end of the show: when you find yourself in a fear-based mentality, or stuck and stagnant, ask yourself, “what am I afraid of?” What are you afraid is going to happen if you lose your job? Why? Then ask yourself, “has this happened to me before?” If it has, are you currently in that experience? Oftentimes what keeps us stuck in the hamster wheel of a fear-based mentality is that we react to situations based on what happened on the past. The important thing to tell yourself when those thoughts come up is that that experience isn’t real. It’s just a trigger, triggering the pain of an old (or imagined, if it didn’t happen to you) experience. It may seem logical to predict future circumstances based on the past, but how does that leave any room for change or transformation? Forgive yourself and your past, and trust that the universe and whatever higher power you believe in is here to lovingly guide and support you, because the truth is, when we believe in the loving power of the universe, it will extend itself to us. When we believe in fear, hatred, and struggle, we block ourselves from experiencing the divine love that the universe can provide. It’s up to you, what do you choose?
