Kari’s Elevated Goddess View Of Conversations with Goddess M. Love and Relationships… Cultivating Intimacy. 4/10/2016
On last Sunday’s show, we discussed creating intimacy and improving your relationships by understanding their nature with guest Goddess Sulonda Smith, author of What Women Absolutely Must Know About Men: A MANual For Creating Passionate and Fulfilling Relationships, and What Men Must Absolutely Know About Women.
As odd as it may sound, non-attachment is key to a working relationship. When I was younger, I believed that loving someone meant that you were rightfully attached to them, and that you had to make compromises in order to make room for the other person. On one of the episodes of the television show Avatar: The Last Airbender, the main character Aang was working on aligning his chakras and moving into a higher consciousness. He managed to clean and clear his chakras, and continued to move through his own baggage until the final stage, which involved releasing his attachments to those he loved. He refused to do it, he was scared–and as a child, I agreed with him.
Now I see that non-attachment isn’t about being disconnected, it’s about living in the present moment and not relying on anything in the past or future. When you’re in a relationship, your first instinct may be to get attached. You get attached to the idea that people who date for a long period of time will likely get married. You get attached to the idea that this person is “the one”. However, both of those ideas will create a dependence on the other person–and if they don’t follow through, then you’re heartbroken. I’m not saying that you can entirely avoid getting your feelings hurt, but I am saying that not being attached to the past or future versions of your relationship will lighten any pain later on.
The only moment that exists is right now. Not the past, not the future. The present is where all of the power is. The present is the only space for you to actively create, appreciate, and enjoy your reality. Therefore, the only aspect of your relationship you can focus on is the one that’s happening right now. Actively create and envision what you want your future with this person to look like, but then get out of the way. Let the universe co-create your future, and be open to whatever that looks like. Have faith that whatever happens, it’s going to be something that is aligned with your highest good. Prepare for it. Believe in it. And then let it go.
